The Grid Units field specifies the unit of measure used by your grid. If you zoom out far enough not all the grid lines display, check the Snap to Visible Grid Line Only box if you only want to snap to visible lines. The undo command (ctrl + z) includes the canvas creation, so when you select an A4 landscape canvas to start a drawing and press ctrl + z right before any other thing, it straightens the page to a portrait A4.
